Lead your own consultant team and serve as the key link between clients, mentors, and your project.
Description
As a Project Manager, you'll lead your own consultant team from brief to delivery, delegating tasks, maintaining quality, and providing guidance throughout the project cycle. You'll be the primary point of contact for clients and external mentors, keeping both informed and engaged as the project progresses. Internally, you'll coordinate with the HR department on training session attendance and team communications. Strong leadership, organisation, and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the initiative to problem-solve independently and creatively. If you thrive on variety and want real-world exposure to professional client work, this role will stretch and reward you.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the project team, ensuring deliverables are completed to the highest standard in accordance with the Terms of Reference.
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Partner(s) and the other Project Managers to share best practices and strengthen project delivery across YCC.
- Manage the client relationships, including all email communication, scheduling/running meetings and handling project logistics (e.g. room bookings, online meeting setup etc).
- Provide weekly progress updates to the client either via email or call, as appropriate each week.
- Share key deliverables with both the client and the mentor in a timely and professional manner.
- Request and manage any additional information or resources needed from the client.
- Provide fortnightly progress updates to the Managing Partner(s).
- Maintain all email contact with your assigned mentor.
- Organise and lead weekly mentor meetings to share progress, receive feedback and ensure consultants and the senior consultant remain engaged, with their expertise integrated into the project.
- Manage and oversee all key deliverables, including drafting and finalising the Statement of Work, toolbox of deliverables and the Final Presentation.
- Ensure clear communication flows within the project team by organising and facilitating weekly team meetings and key internal communications.
- Uphold YCC’s value of professionalism, confidentiality and accountability in all client and internal interactions.
- Attend mandatory weekly 1-2 hour training sessions, ensuring team engagement with content and activities.
- Support the professional and personal development of the whole team through feedback and guidance.
- Act as the first point of contact for internal team conflict. Take steps to de-escalate and resolve issues where possible and signpost consultants to the appropriate contacts if further support is needed.
- Assist during recruitment season by interviewing and supporting the selection of suitable hires.
- Attend twice-termly committee meetings.
